Xbox One exclusive Dead Rising 3 will not be released in Germany after the country's game classification board, the BPjM, refused to give the title an age rating.
News of the move was first reported by German site Games Welt and was confirmed in a statement to Destructoid by Microsoft who commented:
"Dead Rising 3 will not be released in Germany as part of the Xbox One launch line-up on Nov. 22 having been unable to attain an age-rating upon review by BPjM (Bundeprüfstelle für jugendgefährende Medien), the country’s entertainment software self-regulation body.
"While Microsoft is disappointed with this decision, we respect the views of the review panel and have withdrawn Dead Rising 3 from Germany’s Xbox One launch line-up. Dead Rising 3 will still be available in all other launch markets on 22 November 2013. Beyond that, we have no further comment.”
Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 were also previously denied an age rating in Germany so the move isn't too surprising. While the BPjM did not give a reason as to why they refused to classify the game the agency has always been tough on violence in videogames.
While this is undoubtedly bad news for German Xbox One buyers Dead Rising 3 will, as mentioned be released in the Xbox One's 12 other launch territories on November 22nd and you can watch the latest trailer for the game which was released yesterday.
