The military simulation slash sandbox Arma 3 is set for an expansion, which launches at the end of the month, developer Bohemia Interactive has announced.
Titled "Survive", the DLC will be available for free and places players in the role of a regular soldier named Ben KErry, who finds himself stationed in the Republic of Altis & Stratis as a part of a NATO peacekeeping operation.
Following a few years of uneasy cease-fire, the US-led deployment finds itself in the process of a staged drawdown, and the vacuum left by withdrawing forces is being rapidly filled by the opposing CSAT faction, creating the conditions for a flashpoint.
Jay Crowe, the Creative Director of the project goes on to state: “Of course, it’s not just about our own story, but another opportunity to provide yet more building blocks for the platform – new weapons, animations, 3D objects, scripted modules – each designed to grant content creators even greater freedom to create and share their own content. Looking forward to the forthcoming episodes, we’ll continue to expand Arma 3’s sandbox with additions such as new vehicles.”
Survive is out on Oct. 31.
