Ubisoft Details Assassin’s Creed 4’s DLC and Season Pass

October 8, 2013 by Stephen Daly

The first DLC, named Freedom Cry, is set 15 years after Black Flag’s main story.

Ubisoft has revealed the first details of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag's DLC and season pass. The most notable is Freedom Cry – which is set 15 years after the main events of the game and cast players as Edward Kenway's shipmate Adewale. A video and further details about Adawale's adventure can be found here.

In a press release, Ubisoft announced that Season Pass holders can look forward to the following:

  • Freedom Cry: Born a slave, Adewale found freedom as a pirate aboard the Jackdaw as Captain Edward Kenway’s second-in-command. Fifteen years later, Adewale has become a trained assassin and finds himself shipwrecked in Saint-Domingue with no weapon nor crew, starting a new adventure of his own.
  • The Exclusive Kraken Ship Pack – Only available to Season Pass owners, this pack includes personalization elements for the Jackdaw.
  • New ways to personalize the player’s pirate experience – Additional single player missions, weapons, skins, and collectibles.
  • More Multiplayer Mayhem – Unlock new characters for an even more expansive multiplayer experience.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag's season pass affords players a saving of 20 per cent off the content included. Earlier today, Ubisoft released a TV spot for the game and detailed the modern day sections which they described as a "goodbye to Desmond" which can last up to five hours depending on how extensively you play the game.

PlayStation owners without a season pass will also get exclusive content with an extra hour's gameplay.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is set for release on October 28th in North America and November 1st in Europe for PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360. The PS4 version will be released on November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe. PC gamers can pick up the title on November 19th while the Xbox One edition will be launched on November 22nd.
