Like the PlayStation 3 before it, Sony's next-generation machine, the PlayStation 4, comes packed with a host of achievements, which are referred to as trophies on the system.
Just like the achievements on the Xbox 360 and Steam, trophies are earned by playing games that support them. Most, if not all games on the PS4 come with built-in trophy support that players acquire from accomplishing special objectives in the game or simply playing it as it's intended. Likewise, trophies will come in four forms: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum.
What's changed? Trophies appear to pop up on the left side of the screen this time around, instead of from the top right corner as they did on the PS3.
With any luck, trophy syncing will not take half as long as it did on the PS3, either. That was one of the bigger issues with the Trophy system on the PS3.
