Borderlands was a hit franchise and this year we’re finally going to get a third main installment to the series. Borderlands 3 is being developed by Gearbox Software and it will still be the action RPG and first-person shooter. Today we’re finding out that the game has reached the gold status, which means that the developers have finished their final build before discs can be manufactured. Nothing is stopping this game of hitting its intended September release.
Within Borderlands 3, the game will follow a story of a new Vault Hunter who is tasked with stopping Troy and Tyreen Calypso from reaching other Vaults beyond the planet Pandora. Gameplay showcases the same mechanics and comedic relief that we’ve come to know from the series so far and now that the development studio has reached the gold status, it looks like the game has finished up for most of the studio.
For those unaware of what going gold means for developers, this is a milestone that indicates that the game is ready for discs to be manufactured and shipped to various retailers. This doesn’t mean the developers are completely done, we’ve seen plenty of games release with a patch already ready which fixes some of the in-game bugs discovered. However, for those interested in getting a copy of the game, Borderlands 3 is set to release on September 13, 2019, for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
