DICE has revealed all the upcoming multiplayer maps for Battlefield 4, as well as new details for one of those maps, Zavod 311. Of course, they will all be available at the game’s launch on October 29.
Let’s get this out of the way. These are Battlefield 4’s multiplayer maps:
- Zavod 311
- Siege of Shanghai
- Rogue Transmission
- Paracel Storm
- Operation Locker
- Lancang Dam
- Hainan Resort
- Golmud Railway
- Flood Zone
- Dawnbreaker
Now, what is Zavod 311? It is actually an abandoned Soviet tank factory that goes as far back as the Cold War. The factory has since been overrun by nature reclaiming the area, with trees and bushes sprouting all over the place. As you might have guessed in your malevolent imagination, somewhere in the middle of the factory is an active warhead. Detonating it will bring a high chimney to the ground, opening the map up with new areas to pass through. At the same time, it will seal off other areas and place new limits to how well ground vehicles will be able to traverse the area. Zovad 311 will also be littered with munitions depots all throughout. Each depot contains highly explosive materials, which you will be able to use in battle.
Personally, in an environment like this, it would be interesting if certain tanks had varying degrees of operability. Maybe even better would be to randomize the utility of the munitions and weapons you find in this map, reflecting the unreliability, and simultaneous, ever-present danger, of being around Cold War era weaponry. Even without these, though, Zovad 311 sounds like a fine addition to what is being touted as the game that will finally take the crown from Call Of Duty.
