Zero Escape is a series of adventure titles that got its start back in 2009 and it’s last installment, Zero Time Dilemma, released in 2016. However, it seems that even those there are just three games in the mix, more could come out in the future. This announcement came after an interview with game director, Kotaro Uchikoshi who spoke about his work with the Zero Escape series among other franchises. If you were a fan of the games then it looks like it may be up to you if you ever want to see a fourth installment.
The Zero Escape installments follows a group of characters were are kidnapped and must go through a series of puzzles in order to progress. Each game has the players making decisions and looking for clues to escape various rooms with their lives intact. Overall, the games have been generally well-received from fans and critics alike but since the last installment released in 2016, there has been some curious if the game series would ever get a new installment and according to the writer and game director behind the series, Kotaro Uchikoshi, there is a chance but only if fans desire it.
If the fans desire it, there’s always a possibility.
The interview doesn’t expand on the answer given, but it seems that it’s really just up to fan requests if the game series will continue on or not. This would not be a very long hiatus from the series either if a game does eventually get announced. In fact, the last installment, Zero Time Dilemma, was under hiatus during development but it was the fan outreach for the game that got developers back on track.
Since each installment had done well, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a fourth entry come out into the market simply by fan requests. But in the meantime, it doesn’t look like there has been any work put into the series after Zero Time Dilemma. With that said, would you like to see a new installment come out for the game series?
