Each month Sony provides their premium subscribers, known as PlayStation Plus members, free video game titles. Previously the membership would grant players on past generation platforms like the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita to take part in a free game or two but that has since been changed to allow the curated list to be specific to the PlayStation 4 platform. As mentioned, the games are free and will continue to be playable after the month ends just as long as you keep up with the PlayStation Plus membership. It seems that the announcement for July 2019 video games, however, was a bit of a letdown.
Really, only one video game title was the big letdown for fans and that was Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2019. Instead of offering that video game with Horizon Chase Turbo this month, players will instead be receiving Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition. Sony made the announcement on their official blog where the post doesn’t reveal why Sony opted to make the change so while we could speculate that it was fans who have expressed their disinterest in the video game, it’s just that, a purely speculative rumor for now.
We’re sure that this would be a welcomed replacement as Detroit: Become Human was a well-reviewed title and it’s not even the base game. This is the Digital Deluxe Edition which comes with some extra content including a copy of Heavy Rain. So while you are losing out on Pro Evolution Soccer 2019, you’re receiving two Quantic Dream titles in its place.
Once again, this is only for PlayStation Plus subscribers which in addition to offering free monthly titles, players also receive online multiplayer access, discounts on select video game titles, cloud storage and more. If you don’t already own a subscription then you can get it as little as $9.99 per month or $59.99 for the entire year.
