Cyberpunk 2077 Will Have Three Different Character Background Options

July 2, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

New gameplay details emerge for Cyberpunk 2077 post-E3 2019

Easily one of the most anticipated video game titles to release in the upcoming year is CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. The creators behind The Witcher series is hard at work with their next big open world RPG title that will take place in a futuristic world where humans are intertwined with augmentations. Since its announcement, there has been plenty of gamers worldwide looking for anything new regarding the title as we inch closer and closer to its release date. E3 2019 brought out a brand new trailer along with the release date for when we can actually get our hands on a copy of the game, but it was only after E3 ended that we’re learning about the game presenting players with three character background options.

Speaking with VG247, the lead quest designer for the game, Pawel Sasko, spoke about the game prologue options. Players will be able to decide the background of their character prior to starting the campaign. The game development team are calling these origins “lifepaths” and there will be a total of three. They are the Nomad, Corpo and Street Kid. Each of these lifepaths will bring players to a particular area starting point in the game and will give players some background to their protagonist.

“The player in Cyberpunk 2077 can create a custom character that has one of three origin stories, that we call lifepaths: you can be Nomad, Corpo or Street Kid. Each of that Lifepaths has a different starting location and story background that are strongly connected with the origin story. Anything more I say can reveal too much from the story, so I will leave it like this.”

Unfortunately, that is all Pawel was willing to share regarding the prologue for the title. In other news, Cyberpunk 2077 was confirmed to release on April 16, 2020, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and lastly, the PC platforms. If you have yet to check out the latest trailer for the game which was shown during E3 2019 then feel free to check out the embed posted above.
