The PlayStation Network is facing a period of unscheduled downtime today, as service outages cut across the network in North America, Europe and Asia. Without citing any actual reasons, both SCEA and SCEE are acknowledging the outages. On Twitter, Sony announced that the PSN was "down for maintenance."
There's a rumor going around that the "hacktivist" collective Anonymous is behind the outages, despite their recent announcement that it had "temporarily suspended" its action against the network. Sony refuses to comment on the issue.
