Try out this handy little tip that will make it easy to switch weapons around while running in DayZ Standalone.
Remember, to set this up, you should not have any primary weapons on hand. So if you have your gun equipped, you actually have to drop it.
- First things first, pick up your melee weapon.
- Then, equip it from your Toolbelt to your Primary Weapon Slot.
- To the right of your Primary Weapon Slot is a down arrow. Click on it so that your melee weapon goes into the carry slot.
- Now, pick up the rifle. It will automatically be equipped into your primary weapon slot.
And you’re done! You will be able to switch weapons around on the fly using the default hot keys, where:
- # 1 is your Melee attack
- # 2 is your Secondary Weapon
- And # 3 is your Primary Weapon.
You can also switch weapons around using your mouse’s scroll wheel.
There may be an error where switching weapons around will force you to stand up first, but don’t fret, that’s not part of the game and is currently under investigation.
This is definitely a handy little skill to have around when hunting down, or running away from, those hordes of zombies. Happy hunting!
