Prior to E3 2019 came around we knew that George R.R. Martin, the author behind the Game of Thrones franchise, was working on a video game being developed by From Software. In fact, there were even leaks that showcased the game name prior to it even receiving a reveal announcement trailer. Now that the game, Elden Ring, has been officially unveiled to the masses, we got a dark and bleak world trailer which goes in line with what From Software is typically known for. Today we’re also finding out just how the world famed author George R.R. Martin contributed to the video game.
Both game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin are known for a deep world and narrative. Speaking to IGN during E3 2019, Hidetaka Miyazaki, spoke about he wrote the main narrative journey players will be embarking. But to help flesh the world out and add a level of lore and detail, George R.R. Martin wrote out the background and complimented the narrative campaign that Miyazaki already took care of.
As a result of George R.R. Martin, gamers will find that the characters that players will meet along the way will have a lot more depth and personality according to Miyazaki. Unfortunately, the video game announcement trailer didn’t necessarily share too much information about the game and we’re not entirely sure when the title will launch. With that said, we do know that Elden Ring will release for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.
