DOTA 2 has come out with a new update, titled First Blood. Among numerous fixes and additions is the coming of something called the Portal Pack.
Front and center in the Portal Pack is the sharp-tongued GLaDOS, on hand to let you know when your defenses are going down, gleefully of course. The pack also includes a Portal themed HUD skin and Aperture Science Wardcores.
Another fresh addition is the new Captain’s Draft game mode. Captain’s Draft Mode chooses 8 str, 8 agi and 8 int heroes to be selectable in two teams. Each team captain bans 2 heroes and then picks five other heroes. They each have 150 seconds to finish making their choices, so this will be an interesting mode indeed.
The addition most players will welcome will likely be LAN play. Players on the same physical network will now be able to play locally hosted games by choosing “Create Local Lobby.” Other players in that network will have to choose “Find A Lobby”, then “Local Lobbies”. Replays are stored in the lobby leader’s computer.
You will also want to know about changes to the economy. Your DOTA profile level will now affect your current drop level. Subsequently, you will be able to look up your drop level in your profile page. The Armory has also been augmented with a quick search bar, and filters to help you find the armor you need sooner. Most importantly, some items have been taken out of the store to go to the Steam Community Market. These items are not immortal, but don’t fret: they will be made available in occasional sales, and should also pop up in the pop lists.
There are numerous other changes to core gameplay, UI, visuals, technical limitations, and changes specific to Mac and Linux. Hit the link below to see everything.
