We have new information on a recently revealed new Pokemon for Pokemon X and Y. Meet Aurorus, the evolution for Fossil Pokemon Amura.
Aurorus is a Tundra Pokemon, of the Rock/Ice Type. Its ability is called Refrigerate, allowing it to expel freezing cold air to attack enemies, or create a wall of ice as defense. It has a move called Freeze-Dry, which is Super Effective when fighting Water Type Pokemon. Freeze-Dry, as the name implies, can also freeze opponents.
As you can see, Aurorus gets those small wings on the top of its head expanded and grown all the way through the neck into twin sails. It also gets a little bit of a bedazzling in the process.
Aurorus and Amura are presumably based on a real life dinosaur called Amargasaurus. Amargasaurus was a sauropod known for the long spines that grew out of the back of its neck. Some artists interpreted Amargasaurus’ spines as connected to each other via membranes of skin, taking the appearance of twin sails at the back of its neck.
Getting back to Pokemon life, new pictures have also come out for fellow Fossil Pokemon Tyrunt’s evolution, Tyrantrum. Tyrantrum retains and grows Tyrunt’s signature neck frill and gives it a pseudo crown in the face, as well as a whole lot of reddening and some scales. No new information on Tyrantrum so far, but we may not have to wait long for that.
Pokemon X and Y is merely weeks away! Expect even more Pokemon information to keep coming out in the interim.
