Phil Spencer ‘hopes’ for more Gears of War with Xbox One

September 18, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

Gears of War franchise dependent on Epic Games.

In an interview with Japanese video gaming magazine, Famitsu, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios, Phil Spencer, discussed his intentions to see Gears of War return to the Xbox One.

Epic Games handles the development of Gears of War, which Phil Spencer admits Microsoft's inability to force another entry.

"Gears of War is developed by Epic Games, and they’ve been our partners for a long time on Xbox 360. You should ask Epic Games about what they want to do," Spencer explained. "We haven’t announced anything yet about Gears of War, but we hope to bring it to Xbox One in some form. However, there’s nothing more I can tell you at this time."

Phil Spencer recently spoke about another Xbox franchise in limbo and did not shy away from questions regarding the Geometry Wars franchise. Over Twitter, Spencer confirmed the existence of discussions around a possible Geometry Wars title but did not add any further detail.

Microsoft and Epic released Gears of War: Judgement this past March as the fourth installment in the Gears franchise.
