DualShock 4 Support Is Coming For Apple iOS Devices

June 4, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Gaming on your iPhone is about to get easier.

When it comes to playing video games on your touchscreen devices like a smartphone or tablet, the on-screen controls can be a pain. Some video game titles implement them rather fine and gaming can be smooth sailing but for the more intensive video games or ports can create a problematic time. That’s when companies started to deliver controllers developed for these devices. That soon became a thing of the past as these current generation consoles typically offer a wireless controller that can be synced up to your device.

Well for a few years now we’ve been waiting for the iPhone and other Apple OS devices to get this treatment with the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller. The wait is coming to an end as during the Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple unveiled that the DualShock 4 will soon be supported on devices like the iPhone and iPad. Unfortunately, the support won’t be instant as PlayStation tweeted out that the DualShock 4 connectivity for Apple devices will be coming later this fall.

It was also confirmed that this device support will also be available for the Apple Arcade service that was announced earlier this year. This is an upcoming service that will allow consumers to access a library of video game titles on devices like the iPhone without having to pay for in-game content. This subscription service is also slated to launch in the fall of this year too though the pricing has yet to be unveiled. This won’t be the only subscription service coming out which is intended to deliver gamers with access to video game titles on-the-go or at home. For instance, you have Google Stadia which is coming in 2019 so it will be interesting to see how the prices compare for each subscription.
