Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is just one of many cross-gen titles coming out over the next few months but will it really be better on PS4? In the latest trailer released for the game Ubisoft attempts to answer that question with a definitive 'yes'.
According to associate producer Sylvain Trottier the next-gen version of Assassin's Creed 4 offers "the most realistic virtual ocean you've ever seen" thanks to advanced water physics and lighting effects.
The extra power of the PS4 also allows for "dynamic ripple shaders" which means Ubisoft can now illuminate individual raindrops among other advanced weather effects. Lightning has also been overhauled so that the colour changes based on the surfaces it reflects off.
Another notable change is that the next-gen version can render a much larger amount of foilage being there'll be less texture popups.
While none of these things add directly to making a better game Assassin's Creed 4 on PS4 will at least be pretty to look at. You can find 10 minutes of gameplay here, which shows us various activities including shark hunting and tavern brawls.
