The last few weeks there has been plenty of talk about Gearbox CEO thanks to the recent Borderlands 3 announcement. After the world got the first view of the new Borderlands installment, we have been slowly finding out new information both about the game and behind-the-scenes. For starters, we know that the new installment will, for the most part, be true to the franchise and give players something they’ve been after for a good while now. However, we also know that some of the past voice actors won’t make a return. Now one of those former voice actors has spoken up about some serious matters which has caused him not to return.
The voice actor we are referring to is David Eddings who has previously talked about his situation about not working on Borderlands 3 and that’s obviously has gotten some attention from the internet. However, the latest announcement from David Eddings is concerning. Apparently back in 2017 during GDC Eddings was assaulted by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford. Eddings posted about the incident online through his Twitter account where he stated that not only was he assaulted but he was never paid his due royalties from the video games.
I ultimately offered to do it for “free” in exchange for past royalties owed plus an apology for something I’ve never spoken about publicly until now: Randy physically assaulted me in the lobby of the Marriott Marquis at GDC 2017.

As a result, he will only return to Borderlands 3 if Randy Pitchford will pay the money he is owed and also demands an apology from the incident. For those who are not familiar, David Eddings was the voice actor for Claptrap but it’s unlikely we will see him return for this new upcoming installment.
Currently, Borderlands 3 is slated to release on September 13, 2019, for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One platforms.
