Saints Row Film Announced With F. Gary Gray Directing

May 1, 2019 Dennis Patrick

The man behind The Fate of the Furious will take on Saints Row.

There have been plenty of video games being turned into films or cinematic television series. You have Sonic The Hedgehog movie coming out, Halo’s Showtime television series and the already available animated Netflix exclusive run of Castlevania. Those are just naming a few as there are plenty of other video game franchise film productions in the works but now we can add another to the list. A new announcement has appeared online today that suggests Saints Row will be turned into a film with F. Gary Gray directing.

This is not anything new per se. We’ve heard about a Saints Row movie for a while now but the latest gives some indication that this film adaptation is not dead. Instead, according to Deadline, the Saints Row film will be developed under the careful eye of F. Gary Gray. Now those of you who may not recognize the name, F. Gary Gray was behind Straight Outta Compton and The Fate of the Furious. This, unfortunately, doesn’t come with any news really on what we can expect from the film.

For instance, the franchise spans a few different video game titles so it’s uncertain if we are going to get a unique story narrative or something that may cover a video game title. Likewise, because of the nature of Saints Row, we expect a hard mature rating to be attached unless the film is watered down to appeal to a wider audience, but that would be difficult to see for this particular franchise.

At any rate, what are your thoughts on a Saints Row movie? Let us know if you are interested in seeing the movie when it finally premieres by leaving a comment below. Likewise, what other game franchises could you see being turned into a movie? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
