GameStop's Bob Puzon has said that Call of Duty: Ghosts is currently "on track" to be the year's most pre-ordered title despite competition from the likes of Grand Theft Auto 5.
Puzon, the retailer's senior vice president of merchandising, recently commented that:
"Call of Duty is an entertainment juggernaut and cultural phenomenon. We look forward to celebrating the worldwide November launch of this great game that is on track to be the most pre-ordered title of the year."
This is despite publisher Activision saying in August that pre-orders of Ghosts fall well below those of Black Ops 2. Activision's publishing president Eric Hirshberg pinned the poor performance to the upcoming release of the PS4 and Xbox One in November.
"As one might expect in this console transition year, pre-orders for Call of Duty: Ghosts are well below the record-setting pace set by Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 last year."
However, it's likely that the console transition is behind GameStop's figures with many players presumably pre-ordering the game for their new console.
It has been hinted that future installments in the Call of Duty series could feature Kinect integration.
