A small number of redundancies have impacted BioShock Infinite developer Irrational this week but it's understood that the development of two DLC packs for the game has not been affected.
In a statement to Kotaku Irrational commented that the layoffs were made:
"In an effort to streamline our processes I am sad to confirm that we let go a total of eight employees today. Any studio’s greatest asset is the group of people that make up the whole, and as such it was extremely hard to make this decision and there is never a good time for this to happen. As co-workers and friends, we wish them the very best."
Irrational is currently making Burial at Sea Episodes One and Two which bring Infinite's Booker and Elizabeth to the underwater city of Rapture – the setting of BioShock 1 and 2. In the latter episode, players will actually take on the role of Elizabeth.
The studio has already released combat based DLC, Clash in the Clouds. Infinite's city of Columbia has today been added to Disney Infinity as a free DLC.
Hopefully all affected by the layoffs land on their feet.
