Dead Rising 3, the Xbox One-exclusive project that will pack more zombies on one screen than ever before, won’t be some walk in athe undead park. Even if the time restrictions that have defined the series can be turned off, the game’s Nightmare Mode will take everything that made past games difficult and turn it up a few notches.
This comes from game producer Mike Jones, who knows that those looking for a true challenge will be more than happy with what his team has whipped up.
"It's probably the most difficult Dead Rising game we've ever made," Jones told OXM. “We wanted to sort of have our cake and eat it, serve both kinds of gamers.
"I'm the kind of gamer who just wants to be chilled, who doesn't want to be on a timer or a schedule, but a lot of Dead Rising fans love that timer, and love that save system, and they love breaking controllers, I guess – throwing them against the wall. So if you're a masochist, we're not going to ruin it for you."
Dead Rising 3 might not be the game legendary creator Keiji Inafune would have made, but there should still be enough nonsense to keep fans from drowning in a thick, self-serious plot.
“You can take it seriously, as a zombie survival outbreak simulator, or you can do this nonsense," added another Capcom representative. "We're laying down a canvas, and we're letting you paint up that canvas and make the game how you want to make it."
Look for the open-world project to launch later this year.
