Anonymous has made a statement claiming that it will not be ceasing its attacks on Sony despite the company's recent arrangement with George Hotz. They say they plan to step up the attacks to bring awareness to what they refer to as a "severe violation of privacy rights" on Sony's part. As a part of their ongoing operation, Anonymous will be organizing demonstrations at Sony stores around the world.
Anonymous says it was unacceptable for Sony to have coerced, or "forced" (in their words) websites like YouTube and PayPal to provide them with the personal information about people who watched GeoHot's videos or donated money to him, and that it was wrong for them to request the info in the first place.
According to a press release by the organization, Anonymous says that it will stop its DDoS attacks on Sony websites, because it felt their effectiveness had peaked. Instead, they will urging people to boycott Sony's products and gather at Sony stores on April 16th to protest against the corporation.
"Where the judicial system has failed, Anonymous will persevere, by standing up for the rights of everyone, not just those who dared to challenge these corporations. GeoHot's belief was in the freedom of information dissemination. We will stand with him."
