Xbox One SmartGlass Purchases Prompt Remote Downloads

August 30, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

Purchases games on your smartphone and remotely begin downloading on the Xbox One.

Punch for punch, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 continue to tout similar features. Any purchases made through the Xbox One SmartGlass application will prompt the download on the Xbox One console immediately following the purchase.

Marc Whitten, corporate vice president of Xbox, confirmed that "all marketplace items can be downloaded," in response to digitally bought games through the SmartGlass application.

A few days ago, Shuhei Yoshida, president of Worldwide Studios at Sony, confirmed over Twitter the PlayStation 4's similar feature. Any purchases made through the PlayStation application will wake the PS4 console to begin downloading.

Remote purchases and downloads will help people stay on top of any sales or those who want their game fully downloaded upon arriving home.

The Xbox will launch this November for $499.
