PS4 Smartphone Purchases Wakes the Console for Download

August 28, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

Remote purchases will wake up the PS4 to begin downloading.

To arrive home to a game fully downloaded and ready to play on your PlayStation 4, Sony implemented a method that will allow Smartphone purchases to wake your console and prepare any digital titles.

@SyriasSerj When you buy a PS4 game on smartphone, it will wake your PS4 up to start downloading the game. PS4 goes back to sleep after that

When PS4 owners make digital purchases through their PlayStation Smartphone applications, the PS4 console at home will wake from its sleep to begin downloading the title. Once the download finishes, the console will re-enter the sleep mode.

Smartphone purchases and remote downloads will help fuel any impulse buys, but also help eliminate wait time or potential to miss out on PlayStation Network sales. At the very least, this new feature will help those with a busy schedule or time spent not anywhere near their PS4.

The PlayStation 4 will launch this November 15th and 29th for $399.
