Microsoft: We’re Seeing ‘Better Than Expected’ Yields From Xbox One

August 29, 2013 by Stephen Daly

The company remains ‘on track’ for launch this November.

Following a report from a Chinese newspaper that Microsoft has lowered its shipping forecasts for the Xbox One due to poor yields the company's senior director of product management Alber Panello denied the charge commenting that yields are "actually higher than expected".

Panello dismissed the claims of poor performance in a statement to VG24/7.

"That report is incorrect. We have not lowered shipping volumes, and are actually seeing better than expected yields from our silicon. We just returned from gamescom where we showed the overwhelming majority of content on Xbox One near-final hardware. We also just rolled out a widespread employee beta and remain on track for a November launch this year."

Previously Panello has attributed the decision to reduce the Xbox One's launch territories from 21 to 13 to Kinect voice recognition localisation.

The Xbox One is set to launch in November but does not currently have a confirmed release date. The PS4 will be launching in 32 countries in November with North America seeing the console on November 15th while European and Latin American gamers will need to wait until November 29th.
