Nintendo has announced today during its Direct that the critically acclaimed Super Mario Maker title will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch, but in sequel form! Super Mario Maker 2 for the Nintendo Switch is set to release sometime in June. During the reveal, we saw that the Switch version of the game will come with new backgrounds, revamped controls, and some new items to create levels from games such as Super Mario 3D World.
As mentioned the announcement came during February’s Nintendo Direct where we got a look at the new setup and tools that players will have access to when creating custom Super Mario levels. This trailer didn’t get into the fine details as to changes we can expect but Nintendo did confirm that there will be a few new features along with elements in store for players when the title release within June of this year. For those of you who may not be aware of what Super Mario Maker was we’ll give a quick recap. Super Mario Maker is a video game in which players are given the tools to create their own custom Super Mario levels.
Outside of being able to customize how the level plays out with various enemies and obstacles, players could tweak the assets and visuals from the variety of Super Mario video game titles. Now with a sequel underway and a popular handheld console hybrid, we imagine that there will be a very active community of players who will deliver unique Mario levels online for others to enjoy.
