Gamers waited for years before Square Enix finally released the third main installment to the Kingdom Hearts franchise and best of all when the game released, it became available for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. Unfortunately, the game didn’t see a launch on the PC platform and it was a bit of a mystery as to if the game will end up on the Nintendo Switch console. There have been debates online regarding the game and the platform such as even if the game could run properly with the Nintendo Switch hardware. However, the debates can come to an end as the director behind the Kingdom Hearts series recently spoke with Famitsu where the Nintendo Switch platform release was brought up.
In the conversation, Famitsu asked Tetsuya Nomura if there was any potential for the Nintendo Switch receiving the latest Kingdom Hearts video game. Nomura stated that the game could possibly release on the Nintendo Switch as the hardware is not limited to the platform. Apparently, the Nintendo Switch port is under consideration after the game was initially launched on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms as the development team is thinking of what could come next along with where they may be able to find new fans.
This doesn’t mean that the game would officially make its way to the platform. Instead, it seems to be just a means to state that the developers could potentially bring the game over if they wish. We are wondering if there would be any limitations however if the game does end up releasing on the Nintendo Switch as the hardware can be limited compared to the other current generation platforms available today. Regardless, the director’s response does seem to indicate that the developers have already thought about bringing over a port which could mean that an announcement may be inbound.
For now, gamers can pick up Kingdom Hearts 3 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles. Likewise, you can check out our Before You Buy episode upload for the video game within the video upload above.
