It’s not easy to launch an MMO, but re-launching a massive, open RPG with the Final Fantasy name attached? A task like that would make any developer squirm. Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn recently unlocked for those who decided to pre-order the game, and while there have been sweeping changes made to make this fantasy title a more enjoyable experience, a hefty number of European and North American players experienced an error 1017 message saying ,"The World is currently full. Please wait until an opening is available and try again."
That’s the last thing people want to see after such a long, difficult development cycle, so producer and director Naoki Yoshida took to the game's official forums (via Videogamer) to apologize to the fans.
“The maximum expected population limit is nearing for each World, and unless the current World simultaneous connection amount decreases, we are unable to open release the limitation," Yoshida wrote in the post. "In case we do release the limitation, there is a high chance that the corresponding World will crash or cause issues, and we are thinking that it will be difficult for us to release it for a while. We please ask you to consider playing in a World that has a low limitation.
"We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause and ask to continue with your cooperation.”
A Realm Reborn is looking to provide players with a true MMO experience, so hopefully everyone will be able to actually play it when it launches August 27.
