EA Fully Committed To Making More Star Wars Games

Details of Star Wars projects will be released when the time is right.

There’s been plenty of talk online lately after the announcement of EA killing of another Star Wars video game title. EA, in general, has been dealing with a rocky relationship with the gaming community over the past few years. Things certainly have not gotten any better after EA killed off the upcoming Star Wars video game we were going to receive in the near future. Apparently, EA is still very much committed to making video game titles based off the hit sci-fi franchise according to a comment made to Variety.

EA at the current moment has a licensing deal with Disney to bring out Star Wars video game titles. However, over the past year or two now we’ve seen EA kill off two Star Wars video games which have gotten a following from fans. For instance, EA took down the Visceral studio which was working on a narrative-driven Star Wars title that had Amy Hennig leading the project, who is known for her work with Naughty Dog on Uncharted.

Since then, EA had their Vancouver studio working on an open world Star Wars title that would involve players taking on the role of a bounty hunter. Not too many details were released about the game but it was revealed yesterday that EA decided to shut down production. This game is not to be confused with Respawn’s Jedi: Fallen Order, a Star Wars game that is being developed which has yet to release any images or footage about the game. At any rate, gamers who may be wondering if EA is continuing their plans to develop Star Wars titles can be reassured as EA released a statement to Variety.

There’s been speculation overnight about one of our ‘Star Wars’ projects. As a natural part of the creative process, the great work by our team in Vancouver continues and will evolve into future ‘Star Wars’ content and games. We’re fully committed to making more ‘Star Wars’ games, we’re very excited about ‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’ from Respawn, and we’ll share more about our new projects when the time is right.

It appears that EA is still very much interested in working on video games based on the Star Wars franchise, but for now, the company doesn’t have too many games to really show for it. Perhaps we will soon get more information and actual footage of the upcoming Jedi: Fallen Order title soon, but in the meantime, we’ll have to wait and see how things play out.
