Sega has just announced Sonic Generations, as the next game in the beloved, but ill-treated Sonic franchise.
Sonic Generations celebrates the series' 20th anniversary and takes the titular character back to its roots of running around colorful environments instead of equipping a sword, or spending his time in the background while other, less popular characters clutter the screen with their loathsome presences.
A trailer announcing the game can be seen below, which is planned for release this year on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
