After several weeks of teasing, Rockstar Games has finally unveiled revealed the first substantial details about Grand Theft Auto 5's online mode, better known as Grand Theft Auto Online.
Rockstar describes GTA Online as "a dynamic and persistent online world" accessible by yourself or with up to 16 players. Interestingly enough, you can work cooperatively to complete missions and ambient events or compete in traditional game modes.
The developer intends to add new content after the game's launch by both Rockstar and the community. You can create new races or missions in the mode's content creator, share them with buddies and try out creations. It's crowd-sourced, but in a good way.
Customisation will also be one of the game's main pillars – you'll be able to modify your character, improve your stats, purchase vehicles and property and rise up the criminal ranks.
The footage, available to watch below, expands on the glimpse of GTA Online seen at the end of the game's last trailer.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is set for release on Sep. 17 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
