In order to get some anticipation drummed up for the Wii U-exclusive title The Wonderful 101, Nintendo and Platinum Games will be holding a Direct web-cast devoted to discussing the upcoming action title. For Wii U owners, learning a little bit more about this colorful project before it releases in early September for North America and late August for the rest of the world is exciting, but what could turn out to be the most significant news coming from the Japanese studio is the surprise announcement that’s set to unfold not long after the video concludes.
On The Wonderful 101 blog, Platinum teased its fans by telling them to not hop offline after the Direct event.
“After the Nintendo Direct is over though, don’t turn off the Internet just yet, because we’ll have a little something extra to announce shortly after!” the post reads.
Due to some confusion as to when exactly this surprise would be unveiled, the company’s official Twitter account soon posted that the announcement would come, “shortly after the Nintendo Direct, not at the end.” However, that still doesn’t give us any real indication as to what is going to be shown.
We recently discovered a survey from Platinum Games that asks fans about their interest level in a sequel to Metal Gear Rising, which would be a next-generation project if it ever got off of the ground. With Bayonetta 2 still in the works, the developer has a pretty full plate, but it might just add some fresh sides to the mix after the Direct that takes place at 7 a.m. Pacific/10 a.m. Eastern.
