EA Canada has released a new developer diary for FIFA 14 which looks at the game's pure shot and ball physics which you can see below.
The title's lead gameplay designer Aaron McHardy says EA wanted to give players the ability to "unleash that perfect strike". In order for this to happen they've developed two gameplay mechanics, 'pure shot' and 'real ball physics'.
Pure shot allows player to plan their strike and make adjustments before they run up to the ball. An example is how a right footed player will approach the ball and make the necessary adjustments to kick it where he wants to go.
FIFA 14 offers "diversity in trajectory" using real ball physics which means a lot more swerving shots while dipping shots will behave far more realistically. They've modelled air flow around footballs as they move through the air to account for shots without spin.
While the video is from the Italian EA YouTube channel the developers' comments are in English so be sure to check them out below.
FIFA 14 is set to be released on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC laters this year. The PS4 and Xbox One versions are being developed on the new Ignite Engine.
