Treyarch posted two spoiler pics over at the official Black Ops 2 Facebook page that may be teasing the pending release of more zombies DLC.
The two pictures are photos of separate notes. Fans were quick to decipher who wrote these notes and what context they belonged in the game's storyline.
The first picture posted is dated September 22, 1917, and reads as follows:
"When we began the site excavation, our group could not have predicted the dark path down which our work would lead us.
The Doctor remains both adamant and optimistic that the potential applications for the new found element are worth the associated risks. I concur with the sentiment, but feel increasingly anxious as to the changes I am seeing in my oldest friend…"
This note seems to be written by Dr. Ludvig Maxis, in reference to his colleague Edward Richtofen. It's hinted that Ludvig has noticed that Edward is becoming unhinged as an effect of their discovery.
The second picture, posted an hour later, is dated October 6, 1917, and reads as follows:
"The Emperor grows concerned that the barbarians drive for mechanization may soon yield weapons more devastating than anything the world has ever known.
I am honored to act as his trusted agent and will insure that such weapons are secured for the benefit of Japan…"
This note is apparently written by Takeo Masaki. The reddit thread presumes he may be referring to the Emperor of Japan discovering these weapons.
Of course, what's alluded to in all this is Element 115, which makes zombies a possibility in the Call of Duty universe. Speculatory as these are, we may be playing scenarios where Dr. Ludvig Maxis is still alive and still experimenting on the element with Richtofen. Takeo's note could allude to any number of scenarios. I think we could see a simple escort mission with Takeo escaping the frontline to bring Element 115 to the Japanese Army, or even directly to the Emperor.
Whether they only serve to add layers to the story or actually hint at new DLC, it doesn't look like zombies are going out of vogue anytime soon.
