After its announcement that Telltale Games is closing down, it was disheartening for fans to learn that their projects that have been in development will be canned. However, it seems that there is still a potential for some of those projects to keep moving forward. One of the video games that were highly anticipated, Stranger Things, was recently spoken about by the IP owner, Netflix. As it stands right now, we may still see this game come to fruition, but likely under the care of another development team.
Telltale Games has plenty of employees seeking new work ventures but according to Netflix, their Stranger Things video game is still being looked at. We’re not sure exactly what this means, but it does sound like Netflix is still looking to bring out the video game. Likewise, we’re unsure if this means that the upcoming Stranger Things video game will still retain the same format that Telltale Games had been working on.
Despite Telltale Games not officially having their hands on the project any longer, leaked footage online has been getting fans upset that this title may not see the light of day. At any rate, seeing how Netflix isn’t done with the project yet and finding that this leaked gameplay footage is already getting a positive response may ultimately force the next developers to keep on the already laid out groundwork by Telltale Games.
We’ll, of course, keep you updated on the latest here at Gameranx and if you have yet to see the leaked gameplay footage, you can do so within the video posted below.
