DOTA 2 has long been available for the PC as a beta version, and has since seen an official release earlier this month. Valve has announced today that both Mac and Linux gamers can now join in on the fun with the release of official clients that support their operating systems.
The release announcement was made on Valve's community blog with the following system specs, so you'll know exactly how much horsepower you need to get the game up and running on your MacBook or Linux rig.
Dota 2 Mac OS X Minimum System Requirements:
Mac OS X Lion 10.7
4GB RAM
8GB Hard drive space
nVidia 320M or higher, or Radeon 7000 or higher, or Intel HD 3000 or higher
Dota 2 Linux Minimum System Requirements:
Ubuntu 12.04
Dual core from Intel or AMD at 2.8 GHz
4GB RAM
8GB Hard Drive Space,
nVidia GeForce 8600/9600GT, ATI/AMD Radeaon HD2600/3600 (Graphic Drivers: nVidia 310, AMD 12.11), OpenGL 2.1
OpenAL Compatible Sound Card
As a Mac gamer, the requirements are pretty slim. You can even run the game on a MacBook Air with those specs.
