Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Details Revealed

March 25, 2011

A new entry into the Resident Evil franchise has been revealed, and is said to be in the hands of Slant Six Games.

Not quite a reboot and not quite a sequel, the Resident Evil franchise is being placed in the hands of SOCOM: Confrontation developers Slant Six Games to develop RE: Operation Raccoon City.

The new Resident Evil game takes place in Raccoon City following the events of Resident Evil 2, putting players in the role of Umbrella Corporation special forces on cleanup duty.

The cat was let out of the bag in the latest issue of OXM, which goes on to state that players will have access to "big guns" and employ a number of tricks to fool and manipulate enemies. Trying to kill Leon Kennedy will also factor into the game, with the possibility of friendly forces being deployed to protect him.

The game is said to be in development for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms and will be released this winter.
