The Witcher 2 System Requirements Aren’t Too High

March 25, 2011

The system requirements for CDProjekt’s upcoming title The Witcher 2 have long been the subject of speculation—at least among fans of the first game who haven’t upgraded their computers since the release of The Witcher.

Unlike console gamers, who can stick to a single system for up to ten years, most PC gamers have to regularly update their systems to play games that require increasingly higher specs, thanks to the graphical advancements in top of the line game engines. It's the price one pays for being a first mover, and not a part of the mainstream.

Today, CDProjekt unveiled the requirements needed to run The Witcher 2. From the looks of it, most players who played the original title won't have too much trouble running the game on the same setup.

Recommended specs:
  • Processor: Intel Quad Core or AMD equivalent
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 260, 1 GB memory / Radeon HD 4850 with 1 GB memory
  • Memory: 3 GB for Windows XP / 4 GB for Windows Vista and Windows 7
  • Hard Disk: At least 16 GB of free space

Minimum specs:
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD equivalent
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800, 512 MB memory or ATI equivalent
  • Memory: 1 GB for Windows XP / 2 GB for Windows Vista and Windows 7
  • Hard Disk: 8 GB for the game installation and 8 GB for bonus materials
