The Oculus Rift is bound for the PC and the PC alone, but the company's CEO Brendan Irebe has expressed his desire to see the device made compatible with both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at some point in the future.
Speaking to OXM, Iribe said that it "made more sense" for the company to first target the PC due to the fact that it is an open platform, allowing for freer innovation and more room for growth. However, he stressed that he would like to see the device be made compatible with next-gen console hardware.

Iribe expressed his hope that both platform developers at Sony and Microsoft are keen on virtual reality and is hopeful that they come up with competing hardware. "We love what both the console guys are doing. I hope one or both of the console guys make VR headsets, or something similar, like an AR headset.
“The more that they push into this space, even if it’s a different device, or their own device, a different experience, the more that they’re throwing into AR and VR, the better it is for everybody.”
