This week is a good one for Nintendo Downloads. In the spotlight is upcoming top-rated RPG Shin Megami Tensei IV, as well as Super Mario Brothers 2, Donkey Kong, and Metroid.
Currently enjoying a Metacritic score of 87 %, Shin Megami Tensei IV is set in quasi feudal kingdom of East Mikado. You play newly recruited samurai Flynn, and join a party of fellow samurai to hunt down, recruit, train and even fuse demons. The game has been getting rave reviews on the strength of its combat and demon fusion systems. The game will be available in retail and digital distribution July 16 for the 3DS for $ 49.99.
Also coming to the 3DS on Virtual Console is the infamous classic Super Mario Brothers 2. The game lets you choose between Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad, as you go on a quest to free the world Subcon from the evil King Wart. Based on Yume Kojo:Doki Doki Panic, the game was adapted with Mario characters for release in the US, and rereleased in Japan with said characters as Super Mario USA. The game is available today for $ 4.99.
On Wii U's Virtual Console, we are getting NES/Famicom classics and franchise launchers Donkey Kong and Metroid. In the first Metroid, Samus Aran explores the space pirates' home planet Zebes for the first time, to stop their plans to take over the galaxy using the power of the Metroids. Donkey Kong is the home conversion of the classic arcade game, with a pre-Mushroom Kingdom Mario running, jumping and climbing to save Pauline from the eponymous great ape. This release arrives in the week of Donkey Kong's 32 year anniversary; it originally came out in arcades July 9. Both games are available today for $ 4.99
Also coming this week are Turbo Stunt Squad, based on upcoming CGI film, on 3DS July 16 for $ 39.95, and Star Wars Pinball, under Zen Studios Pinball available today for $ 9.99.
Nintendo also has a special offer for people who will buy and register their copies of Shin Megami Tensei IV and Fire Emblem Awakening under Club Nintendo: they get $ 30 store credit! The offer is available until August 31.
