Voice actress and former Battlestar Galactica star Tricia Helfer is confirmed to be making a return in Mass Effect 3 in the role of EDI, the Normandy's AI. Actress Tricia Helfer wrote a post on Twitter yesterday proclaiming that she had just finished her first voice session for the role.
The EDI character was initially distrusted by Shepard and his (or her) crew when she made her first appearance aboard the reengineered Normandy in Mass Effect 2, but earned her place as part of the team after she disabled the Cerberus security protocols, granting Shepard access and saving Joker's life when the Collectors boarded the vessel during the strike team's absence.
While very little is known about the third game at this point, the final DLC for Mass Effect 2, titled "The Arrival" will be getting released in a few days, and it is said to serve as a bridge between the events of ME2 and ME3.
