In an interview conducted by GameControlTube, Namco Bandai Global Producer Tak Miyazoe and From Software Director Yui Tanimura spoke on their upcoming title, Dark Souls 2. While they were somewhat vague in their answers, some interesting tidbits came out of the discussion.
One such piece of information came when Tanimura was asked about whether or not Dark Souls 2 would take place in the same world as the first:
"So it's in the same universe, but Dark Souls 2 sort of takes place in a different location or place," says Tanimura, "In terms of story they will be totally independent of each other."
This quells one small question many gamers have had, as the connection between Demon's Souls and Dark Souls could be described as "spiritual" at best. While this answer appears to have portrayed a closer relationship between games, we're betting that it'll be pretty much the same story when Dark Souls 2 releases in October later this year.
In a particularly novel question, Tanimura was questioned on the presence of dragons in Dark Souls 2's various trailers and gameplay segments. For those of you who have not played Dark Souls yet, dragons were eradicated from the world, so this proposes some very interesting story elements. Tanimura essentially evaded here, but the point is still strong nonetheless.
"We don't want to ruin too much – we don't want to spoil anything for the players, but there is an element of time as well. Maybe a different time, we're not going to ruin anything, but we are going to tell you that there are different stories and hopefully players can look forward to what they will experience in the game."
We've provided the interview in its entirety below. Check it out, because there is a lot more information we have not detailed here!
