Just last week Nvidia announced a $50 price cut for the Nvidia SHIELD explaining that the new $299 price point appealed to larger audience. Set to release tomorrow, on June 27th, Nvidia today announced that the SHIELD will now release in July due to an unexpected mechanical issue.
While conducting final quality-assurance tests, Nvidia discovered a mechanical issue in a third-party component. In an attempt to replace the component, Nvidia continues to work quickly with the suppliers to produce a more suitable component for the final release. Nvidia did not specify exactly which component caused the problem.
The Nvidia SHIELD will stream your PC games, movies and music over your internet to the 5 inch screen. The stream will come in at 720p resolution and even offer access to the Android store.
As of now, the Nvidia SHIELD will release sometime in July with no exact shipping date yet decided on.
