When you think of Quantic Dream, mobile games aren’t exactly the first things that come to mind. The French development studio has produced big, story-driven projects like Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy in the past, so the last thing you’d expect to see from David Cage and the not-so-funky bunch is a competitor to Candy Crush. However, a recent job posting has revealed that the team is looking to hire a designer with experience in the mobile space.
The Paris-based studio has recently posted a job listing for a UI artist/UI designer, and while there’s still Beyond: Two Souls on the horizon for the PlayStation 3, this likely means that a much smaller game is in the works (or at least being thought up).
"This position involves designing and creating 2D artwork and graphics for the UI Interface as well as other 2D items on various mobile and console platforms," the post reads.
No, we didn’t add the emphasis to the word “mobile.” It looks as if this is one of the biggest requirements for the job, but really, it’s anyone’s guess what kind of mobile game Cage would be interested in making. It’s likely anything but ordinary, though. If you happened to take a look at The Dark Sorcerer tech demo at this month’s E3, you were probably reminded of just how different Quantic Dream has been in the past. That trend of interesting, asymmetrical game development will continue this October, when Beyond: Two Souls hits the PlayStation 3.
