Every generation of consoles needs an early release that showcases just what the hardware can visually pump out. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 may not be as great a graphical leap from current hardware as we’ve seen in the past, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still be impressed with a few new screenshots of a game that’s not coming out until next year. CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is being touted as the first next-generation RPG on the market, and if you take a look at a few images that have just been released, it’s difficult to not believe the Polish studio's bold claim.
The six screenshots found below showcase some elements of the open world players will be able to explore in Wild Hunt. A less constrictive environment will be one of the main focuses this time around, with terrifying beasts (some of which can be seen in the screens) waiting to battle you in assorted locales. A bit of the game’s fire tech is also on display, as Geralt is found watching a village burn to the ground (hopefully, not because of something less than heroic that he did).
If Wild Hunt was just a bit of eye candy, it may be worth the price of admission. However, CD Projekt RED is working on sharpening every aspect of Geralt’s last adventure. There will be plenty of new combat techniques to make use of, and a game world that’s more than 30 times larger than what was found in the second game. Look to cut your teeth into the final product next year.
