Nvidia SHIELD Handheld Drops Price $50

June 20, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

Nvidia SHIELD will now launch for $299.99.

The Nvidia SHIELD, Nvidia's Android based handheld today received a $50 price cut a week before launch.

Originally slated to release for $349.99, Nvidia decided to drop the price to $299.99 due to a huge demand from fans.

In a post announcing the price drop, Nvidia explained that they "heard from thousands of gamers that if the price was $299, [Nvidia] would have a home run."

For people who pre-ordered the SHIELD for the original price, they will receive a charge for the new, lower price of $299.99 when the product ships.

The Nvidia SHIELD runs on Android which can stream your PC games, movies and music. The handheld will feature a 5 inch screen and can stream PC games in 720p resolution. If you want to play your PC games in your living room, in your bed, or more secretly, on your toilet, the Nvidia SHIELD can fulfill your needs. The selection of your own PC games and Android store will ensure a steadily growing library of games.

If you're now interested with the newly announced price, you can pre-order the Nvidia SHIELD here. The Nvidia SHIELD will release on June 27th for $299.99.
