Jonathan Morin, the creative director on Ubisoft's upcoming Watch_Dogs, has spoken to Edge and said platform holders "need to listen" to players. It's unclear if Morin's comments are meant as a dig at the used game and internet connection requirements of the Xbox One or simply an observation about market strategy.
"To me next generation will be what players make of it," Morin commented. "I think the generation we're looking at now is past the concept of the box defining it.
"I think people who make machines and consoles now need to listen to players, need to look at how they behave in their lives and then put that in their hands, but ultimately it's going to be the players who are going to have to embrace new elements."
One would hope publishers like Ubisoft also listen to players with regard to their DRM and used game policies on next-gen consoles. EA appears to be taking steps to drop the negative perceptions of the company with its executives saying that they're fine with the used game market and calling the controversial Online Pass program "flat out dumb".
Ubisoft has not yet articulated its used game policies for next-gen.
Watch_Dogs is set to be released on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC and Wii U later this year.
