Though it may often seem that the games industry stops in its tracks when E3 takes place, that isn't always the case. And while everyone was getting hyped up for the major conferences that took place on Monday, UKIE quietly released the UK chart that lists the top 40 games by number of sales in the past week. You might be thinking way ahead to what you're going to buy on the PS4 or Xbox One, but spare a moment to appreciate some of the games that are already here and doing well for it.
Top of the chart is Grid 2, which launched at number one last week. Interestingly, Grid 2 has managed to hold onto this top spot despite a 52% drop in sales; maybe buyers decided to start holding onto their spending money last week in preparation for all the new announcements for which they'll want to start saving.
Of course, that hasn't stopped anyone from buying FIFA 13, which is still in second place despite being relatively ancient and despite the entry of two new releases. Remember Me and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition did manage to make it to numbers three and four respectively, however, though Fuse – which launched at number 37 last week – is nowhere to be seen.
After that, of course, the rest of the top ten consists of games that have been out for a while already. Is there anything you can't see in the top 40 that you thought would do better? Which of the E3 announcements do you think will go straight to the top of the charts when they come out?
