The release of Dragon Age II has been called nothing short of a disaster due to its amount of game-stopping bugs that break not only certain companion quests, but also impair the game's performance on certain set-ups.
A beta patch has been released to addressed at least some of these issues, such as asking for drives that don't exist and problems with save game files on PCs with single core processors. The patch cannot be used with the Steam version of the game, as the problems it addresses mostly relate to the game's copy protection more than anything else and should only be used if you encounter these two problems.
Players will have awhile longer to wait to see their issues with the game's storyline fixed. Download the patch here manually via the forum post.
